The North Wind Equine, LLC TEAM
North Wind Equine, LLC is a reorganization of the practice formerly owned by Richard Bowman, DVM of Rhame, ND.

In July of 2016, Alli Linn, DVM joined North Wind Equine as our newest full time associate.
Our Veterinarians
Laurelyn Keener, DVM met Dr. Bowman while finishing her undergraduate degrees at the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2003. An interest in equine dentistry was sparked and she attended veterinary school at Michigan State University with the intent of working for Dr. Bowman in the future.

Following graduation, Dr. Keener completed a one-year internship in equine and camelid medicine and surgery at Buckeye Veterinary Service in Burton, OH. In 2010, she accepted a position with Dr. Bowman and since that time has limited her practice to equine dental care.

During the summer of 2013, Dr. Keener formed North Wind Equine, LLC and purchased the dental practice from Dr. Bowman as he looked to retire.

Dr. Keener lives in Duluth with her husband and their dog. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her four horses and miniature donkey, playing basketball, and sewing.

Julie Layeux-Parks DVM joined North Wind Equine in October 2013. She began working with veterinarians in 1995 and has worn many hats in the field of veterinary medicine including technician, receptionist, and office manager. She completed her B.S. in Animal Production in 2002 and in 2013 she received her DVM from the University of Minnesota.

Upon graduation, Dr. Parks considered starting a practice in equine dentistry as it brings her 3 special interests together: dentistry, nutrition, and imaging. So, when she heard North Wind was looking for an associate, Dr. Parks was thrilled and jumped at the opportunity.

Dr. Parks lives in New Prague, MN with her husband, 2 dogs, 9 cats, 2 horses, and 2 ferrets. In addition to caring for the animals, in her free time she enjoys sewing, riding, home renovation, gardening, and snowmobiling.

Alli Linn, DVM first started working with Drs Bowman and Keener in 2012 as a first year veterinary student when she traveled to the ranch for the "spring break dental extravaganza". Dr. Linn completed her bachelors degree at Gustavus Adolphus College in 2005 and was attending The University of Minnesota for veterinary school with the hopes of becoming an equine veterinarian. This trip piqued her interest in dentistry and she continued to work with North Wind Equine, making additional trips to the ranch in 2013 and 2014. She recieved her DVM from the U of MN in 2015.
After completing her internship in general equine ambiulatory medicine at The Equine Clinic at OakenCroft in Ravena, NY, Dr. Linn joined North Wind Equine, LLC as an associate veterinarian in July of 2016.
In addition to loving teeth, Dr. Linn is certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture. In her free time, she enjoys riding her OTTB, playing with her 2 cats, crocheting and being outdoors.
Our Support Staff

Bobbi began behind the scenes at North Wind Equine in the fall of 2013. Her goal: to manage the paperwork and help NWE toward becoming a computerized practice. By the spring of 2014 with 2 doctors and rigs running across 3 states, it became apparent that we needed to bring in reinforcements for scheduling. Bobbi has bravely stepped up to this task and is doing a fantastic job!

Bobbi recently retired from a nearly 37-year career as a registered nurse in Duluth. Though still a very busy woman, somehow she manages to find time for riding, gardening, sewing, biking, and spending time with her family.
Canzira, our office manager, joined us in June of 2016. After eight years of working in financial services in Chicago, she left the world of skyscrapers and suits behind for the world of trailers and teeth. Her office looks a bit different now, but the view is much nicer. When not helping to wrangle North Wind Equine’s patients, files, and veterinarians, Canzira enjoys traveling the world and avoiding cameras. Pictured above: Canzira’s shadow (and shoulder) in Australia, Canzira’s shadow in Italy, Canzira’s feet in Lesotho, Canzira’s silhouette in Peru, Canzira’s silhouette in Ireland, Canzira’s shadow (and Dr. Keener’s shadow) in India, and Canzira’s shadow in England.
